The National Cancer Registry welcomes the publication of the new National Cancer Strategy, which was launched on July 5th and incorporates cancer data collected by the Registry. The overall vision for the strategy is one in which all aspects of cancer control, from the promotion of healthy living, more specific prevention measures, optimum treatment and quality of life measures across the patient cancer journey and beyond, are addressed. The new 10-year plan builds on the last strategy published in 2006 and includes key recommendations in a range of cancer services including cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and survival.

The National Cancer Registry looks forward to supporting the Department of Health, the National Cancer Control Programme, the Health Service Executive, the Irish Cancer Society and other key stakeholders throughout the term of the new Strategy, to help ensure the recommendations and overall vision of the Strategy are met.
