The National Cancer Registry of Ireland (NCRI) is delighted to announce that, in addition to being ranked 10th on the Great Place to Work® Mid-Size Best Workplaces™ list for 2026, we have today been named one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces for Women™.

Now in its eighth year, the Best Workplaces for Women™ recognition celebrates organisations that not only provide an excellent work environment for all staff, but also place particular emphasis on creating supportive, empowering, and equitable workplaces for women. This year, Great Place to Work® has recognised 40 organisations across a wide range of sectors, representing more than 10,000 female leaders nationwide.

To earn this recognition, organisations must first be certified as a Great Place to Work®, before undergoing additional evaluation based on the global Best Workplaces methodology. The award highlights workplaces that go above and beyond to ensure:

  • Fair and transparent pay and recognition
  • Equal access to training and promotion opportunities
  • Support for childcare and caring responsibilities
  • A culture where women feel empowered, valued, and able to thrive

Speaking on this year’s recognition, Fania Stoney, Business Development Strategist at Great Place to Work®, noted:

“When organisations commit to fairness in progression and opportunity, the impact is felt across every level of the business. The Best Workplaces for Women™ recognition celebrates those who are not only setting the standard but raising it – creating cultures where women can thrive and lead with confidence.”

Adding to the announcement, Professor Deirdre Murray, Director of the NCRI, said:

“We are incredibly proud to be recognised as a Best Workplace for Women™. This award reflects our continued commitment to building an inclusive, supportive environment where women feel valued, represented, and empowered at every level of the organisation. Our achievement is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the culture of respect and collaboration that defines the NCRI.”

This accomplishment builds on NCRI’s ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and people‑centred workplace where all staff can achieve their best. Being recognised both as a Top 10 Best Workplace™ and now as a Best Workplace for Women™ 2026 highlights the strength of our organisational culture and the shared values that guide our work.

We extend our sincere thanks to all NCRI staff whose contributions, feedback, and commitment to collaboration make achievements like this possible.

Together, we continue to build a workplace we can be proud of.
