The National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI) is pleased to share recent progress from the CancerWatch JA, an EU‑wide initiative aimed at strengthening cancer surveillance, improving data comparability, and supporting evidence‑based cancer control.

Major Project Milestones

The CancerWatch JA has reached several key communication milestones designed to improve engagement and accessibility for partners and stakeholders across Europe:

  • The official CancerWatch JA website has now launched, providing a central hub for project information, updates, and resources.
  • The first CancerWatch JA newsletter has been issued, marking the start of regular updates on project activities and progress and interested parties can sign up to the CancerWatch newsletter via the website to receive future updates directly.
  • CancerWatch JA is now on LinkedIn, offering an additional platform for updates, announcements, and engagement with the wider cancer surveillance community.

These new communication channels will help strengthen awareness of the Joint Action across the registry community, policymaking groups, and international partners.

NCRI’s Ongoing Contribution

Alongside these project developments, NCRI continues to play an active role in multiple CancerWatch JA work packages. Over recent weeks, NCRI colleagues have:

  • Engaged with European partners across several work packages to support planning and technical development.
  • Supported the drafting of upcoming communication deliverables, contributing expertise on registry messaging and public‑facing content.

NCRI’s work forms part of a wider collaborative effort to ensure high‑quality, harmonised cancer data across EU Member States.

The CancerWatch website and newsletter are particularly valuable for:
