CERVIVA research symposium on the 12th June, Dublin

CERVIVA Research Symposium Flyer

CERVIVA, the Irish HPV Screening Research Consortium, is holding a research symposium on the 12th June in the Alexander Hotel, Dublin. The Registry is one of CERVIVA’s main research partners and has collaborated with CERVIVA since the consortium’s inception in 2005. The symposium will showcase CERVIVA’s research projects currently underway in the area of cervical screening and other HPV (human papillomavirus) associated diseases. It will also address potential future research directions for CERVIVA. This is particularly important as HPV is transforming cervical cancer prevention (e.g. HPV testing as a primary screening tool, HPV vaccination) and recent discoveries have highlighted the important role of HPV in other cancers (e.g. oropharyngeal cancer). Professor Heather Cubie from the University of Edinburgh will be giving the keynote lecture of the day on global cervical cancer burden. Dr Grainne Flannelly, clinical director of CervicalCheck, will be giving a talk on future challenges for the national cervical screening programme.

For more information on CERVIVA, please visit the consortium’s newly designed website www.cerviva.ie. A final agenda for the research symposium is now available.
