National Cancer Registry launches new website – www.ncri.ie

The National Cancer Registry has just launched its new website.

The National Cancer Registry is the main provider of essential information on cancer in Ireland and has just launched its new website - www.ncri.ie.

The new site aims to inform the general public about the objectives of the organisation, the type of data collected and the type of research carried out using this data. It is also aimed at providing easy access to useful cancer statistics for the Department of Health, health professionals and research institutions.

The website’s user-friendly design offers quick and easy access to a wide range of data on cancer in Ireland.  It will be possible for anyone to design customised tables and charts from the site using this data. Cancer rates for each county in Ireland are available so people can view cancer rates for the area in which they live. On the site there is a full cancer atlas for the entire island of Ireland. There are a range of one page factsheets on different cancers for anyone to view or download as well as much more detailed scientific publications and peer reviewed papers.  The availability of a research directory makes it very easy to find information on various research projects including international collaborations.

The website embraces social media providing access to LinkedIn and Twitter.  From the launch date, all new publications and papers will be announced on the website and social media simultaneously.

The new website has been designed in accordance with best practice in accessibility.   We provide numerous themes, allowing the user to customise the view to meet their specific need.  Our website runs on all major browsers.  It runs on tablets, with a smart phone version to be released later this year.
